Overview

The fountain bears the name "Bird Tree" Fountain, because of the many birds that nested in the area and came down to the fountain, which was located above the road and sprung out of the huge rock that is above. When the road was opened, they made an underground channel and moved the water a few meters below, to irrigate a large area with its water. In that place there was a small settlement that was abandoned and its inhabitants, according to tradition, settled in Argaki of Morphou and, according to others, in Astromeritis.
