Overview

The Chapel of Saint Andronicus is a small, stone-built chapel located at the foot of the Vouni hill, between the ruins of Saint George and the chapel of the Twelve Apostles. According to an inscription, it was rebuilt and inaugurated on 9/10/97 with the expenses of the Kostas M. Kay family. Despite its small size, the Chapel of Saint Andronicus is a beautiful and elegant building. It is a single-nave structure with a pitched roof and traces of wall paintings on the ancient stones. These paintings confirm the oral testimonies of the locals that the old church was full of beautiful frescoes. Unfortunately, the Chapel of Saint Andronicus suffered from neglect and unauthorized restoration for many years, and as a result, there is no evidence left from the original building, nor any hope for its accurate dating. Nevertheless, on May 17, when our Church honors the memory of Saint Andronicus, a service is held in this lovely chapel.
