Overview

Three kilometres south of the village is the beautiful chapel of Saint Elizabeth which was built in the 16th century on the foundations of an older church. This church, which is a real jewel and a priceless treasure for the village, is small in size but very beautiful and well-kept. It is a single-aisled basilica with a gabled external roof covered with tiles. The whole structure is made of small stones, which in recent years have been preserved by the antiquities department. The church is supported externally by four large pylons, which stand out for their size and protrude from the two side walls. Above the western entrance of the temple is a small window which gives some light into the interior of the temple. On the north and south walls, only the two large pessaries stand out. In the middle of the only external niche of the sanctuary step there is a small window which illuminates the sanctuary step. The interior of the church is of particular architectural interest. The roof made of stone is in very good condition after the maintenance carried out by the antiquities department.
