Overview

The church of Luke the Apostle is located on a hill overlooking the village and it's the first church we find that we come across in the village. It is a single-section church like many of the churches that were constructed during the Turkish occupation. Its exterior has a second wooden shingled roof. This second roof gives the church a more distinctive and characteristic charm. Both the interior and the exterior are semi-circular, which is a characteristic not commonly observed in such small churches. The Church of Luke the Apostle was restored by the Department of Antiquities in 1999 and 2000, where the wooden roof was refurbished and the original flooring was reinstalled. At the northern entrance of the church, on a carved plaque, one can find the date of its construction inscribed, dated 1697. Here is also a silver Holy Grail of the 18th century, which was granted to the church by Metropolitan Sofronios of Kerynia (1773-1791).
