Overview
The Chapel of Timios Stavros in Kivides is situated atop a hill, adjacent to the main road of Limassol-Krassochoria. As you approach the site, you will first come across the monument of Ankeliki Sotiriou, also known by her revolutionary name "Fillimon." A short distance away lies the old chapel of Timios Stavros. This charming stone-built church consists of a single section and features a whitened interior. It offers a cozy space that can accommodate approximately 25 worshippers. Adjacent to the back wall of the church is the burial site of Xatzianthimou Heracles, the benefactor who funded the construction of the chapel. In the past, the grounds surrounding the chapel were frequented by traditional merchants and peddlers who would set up their shops to sell the produce from their harvests. This practice added a lively atmosphere to the vicinity of the church, creating a sense of community gathering. It is Liturgised on the 14th of september and Easter monday. The chapel's serene hilltop location, along with its modest yet welcoming interior, provides visitors with a peaceful and intimate space for reflection and spiritual connection. The historical ties to the local community, as evidenced by the burial of its benefactor and the traditions of the local merchants, add layers of cultural heritage and community involvement to this cherished religious site.
