Overview

In the beginning, the inhabitants took water from the banks of the river Katouris, (a tributary of Setrachos), where they built makeshift "faucets", placing them at the point where the water flowed. (Galled wood, tiles or even broad leaves of trees, mainly walnut, were used as materials). Later they found the spring near the lower bridge and named the spring "The Fountain". In 1911 – 12, when the carriage road in the village began to be built, with the efforts of the Mukhtar Ioannis X. Kountouris, another fountain was built in the village, at the spot where the fallen memorial is today. The water was brought by pipes from the place "Hadara", to the location "Rotsos". Then the old faucet was called the "Lower Faucet" as opposed to the new one which was the "Upper Faucet" Later, in the 1920s, 6 fountains were built in various parts of the village. Their architecture was of the arch type. In 1952, 12 fountains were constructed in the village, thus making life easier for the residents. The community maintained as many of these fountains as it could. In some of them, they even installed lighting and water. In 1963, the water supply system was implemented in the village with water cylinders. Small cisterns were constructed in each neighbourhood, with small partitions with sheet metal inside. In each partition, there was a small hole that let water flow into the particular small space, corresponding to each household. This little water, a masuri, was piped into the tank that each owner made in his house. Thus, everyone had water in his house.
