Overview

Moutoullas was the only village in Cyprus where wooden dough bowls were created. We couldn't find an explanation for this uniqueness. Many residents of the village have been engaged in this profession over time. Most of them from the families of Oikonomou, Cassino, Kountouri, Evgeniou, Loizides, etc. The main uses of the bowls were: kneading, washing clothes, bathing, cradle, placing food for animals (mainly pigs), etc. The tools used by the makers were: swing, harkoftas, band saw mills (short and long), xinari, kudutsi, skeparni, roukani, raspa, meter, bar, twine.
